The Opt-Index Real-Time Business Directory is a service of Cumberland Systems Company, a privately held company founded in 2000. Cumberland Systems created The Opt-Index with the goal of organizing the World Wide Web and traditional businesses into a common directory maintained by the business owners themselves.

Realizing that such a directory had the potential to include all websites, all traditional businesses, and then some, it was designed from the ground up to handle massive amounts of data. It is supported by a computing infrastructure that is designed to grow along with the size of the directory.

The Opt-Index is open to all legal businesses and organizations via the Internet. There is no charge to be listed or to search the directory. There are premium services available to enhance business listings and to authenticate listings. Please see our Pricing page for more details.
